This week I played with a lamp and sky lighting I really like HDRI lighting. But fucking hell is a bitch to make look good without paying money for something or other. So I was just going to use a sky with a generated texture node for like clouds so it isn’t totally flat lighting but I don’t even know if that is working. I spent many hours working on this and unfortunately, the one render is the only shitty thing that I made from it. I had a better looking one earlier but I fucked it up at like 2am last night and made it less cool but whatever. Also you can’t even tell that the table is shiny and has an awesome material on it because again...I fucked it up.
Onto that lamp. So it was a modeling nightmare. I tried to cut an oval shape out of a simple combination of planes and arrays but I learned a lot about how the boolean modifier works now which is nice. It only works on closed loop meshes (didn’t know that). You have to recalc your normals and they still fuck up because I don’t fully understand how to control backface culling. But yeah. Short and simple it was way easier than I made it out to be (just make the pieces separate and smack them together at the end) because there is always a million ways to do the same thing. I have wanted to furnish a room so bad lately so I think I will actually start pushing to do that this week.
